Compatibility intelligence · exact bounded mappings

What meaning survives the move?

Tracevity binds exact source and destination format versions, then separates documented semantics, its own interpretation, and reproducible local fixture evidence.

Direct answer

Transport is not semantic equivalence.

A destination can parse a trace while losing principal identity, authority, event relationships, privacy controls, or evidence needed to verify external state. Each mapping below is directional and bounded to the versions, assertions, and synthetic fixtures it names.

Four answers

Read preservation and loss without collapsing unlike evidence.

What survives?

Fields whose meaning remains available at the destination.

What is degraded or lost?

Normalization, partial preservation, ambiguity, and source semantics without represented destination evidence.

What still requires external evidence?

Facts that still require identity, authorization, destination, or state evidence.

How do we know?

Primary documentation, bounded Tracevity interpretation, and linked reproducible local evaluation runs stay separate.

Direction matters. A finding in one direction does not imply the reverse mapping, another version pair, backend acceptance, or behavior outside the named fixtures.

OpenTelemetry GenAI development snapshot → OTLP 1.11

Representative GenAI agent, model, and tool attributes survive local HTTP/protobuf serialization, while principal, approval, destination state, and complete-capture claims remain outside the representation.

OpenInference 0.1.33 → OTLP 1.11

OpenInference kinds and attributes remain ordinary OTLP span attributes, but parseability does not repair broken correlation or prove a complete capture.

Directional mapping

MLflow native 3.15.2 → OTLP 1.11

MLflow's actual local exporter carries native mlflow.* model, tool, input, output, and trace structure through OTLP, but those vendor semantics are not automatically portable to a generic consumer.

Directional mapping

MLflow 3.15.2 native → GenAI-transformed OTLP

The documented flag maps selected MLflow model, usage, tool, name, and kind semantics into gen_ai.* while stripping most mlflow.* attributes; the transformation is useful but not lossless.

The published fixtures are synthetic and provider-free. Their local generation and validation establish only the named fixture output—not collector or backend acceptance, production completeness, external settlement, or hidden model reasoning.

Current exact-proof projection26 preserved historical exact proofs over frozen v0.2 derived bytes + 1 additive corrected forward proof. The ten v0.2 fixtures remain byte-identical; one correction fixture is derived from unchanged raw input. The defective sampled-bit receipt is superseded, not current evidence. Run the same semantics locallyThe Tracevity CLI applies the supported exact bindings in Inspect and compares requirement-level outcomes in Gate. It does not upload or convert a trace.
Apply the evidence locallyTracevity Inspect uses these exact representation boundaries to evaluate supported local artifacts against a named requirement. Read the Inspector guide; this website never receives the trace.
Gate reconstruction, not field namesA migration can change raw attributes and still preserve every required outcome—or keep valid OTLP while losing material evidence. Tracevity Gate compares the reconstruction consequence under one current evaluator.
